(More customer reviews)Adobe is really falling behind the times. They seem to think they can provide products with known defects and simply lie about them. Specifically, when I previously purchased Acrobat 8 Pro I found that I could not make a simple PFD file from a MS Word document no matter what I did. And, after trying to figure out what I was doing wrong I contacted Adobe tech support and was told that Acrobat 8 Pro was not compatible with the current mac OS and MS Word. So, now a few years later, before I was going to consider buying Acrobat X Pro for mac I call Adobe Sales and asked them specifically if these problems had been resolved and would Acrobat X work with the OS 10 and MS Word. They said absolutely, so I proceeded with my purchase. But, I guess I'm just too trusting because no matter what I tried, no matter what Adobe tutorial I reviewed, I could not make a simple PDF file using Acrobat X. I spent lots of my time speaking with Adobe Sales & Customer Support being told how to make it work, but was finally transferred to Adobe tech support. The first techie told me how to make a PDF from Word, but I still couldn't get it to work. Finally, on my 3rd tech support person (I think this one was in India) I was told, "well, you know that Acrobat X is not yet compatible with mac OS 10 and Adobe is working on a patch that should be out in ~ 6 months. Just for reference, mac OS 10 has been out for more than a year now. This support tech did provide me with "work around" so I was finally able to make PDFs, but the program does work the way Adobe says it does.
Lots of emotions and thoughts went through my mind at discovery -anger, frustration, I want my money back, but at least vindication that I was not technically incompetent, as I do have a Ph.D. So, my recommendation to anyone thinking about buying Adobe Acrobat X for mac - DON'T, buy one of the many alternate PDF making programs. Maybe someday Adobe will figure out that making poorly designed and tested software products is not a good thing to do, and it's even worse to lie about them!
Finally, to my knowledge, as of today, March 5, 2011 the patch still does not exist.
