I received this product yesterday and the version shipped was 2.0.3. I used it on my 1-year old MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.5.4. I had no problems running any of the utilities or booting from the disc. It defragged my drive beautifully (I was honestly surprised at how fragged it was), repaired my permissions, and checked for bad sectors on my hard drive (none - woo hoo!).
For those of you who purchased Drive Genius 2 that is not version 2.0.3, go to Prosoft's website and you can download the latest update for free, as well as get a free bootable disk, if needed. I think a lot of the people who left bad reviews never came back and updated them because the software does automatically check for updates and 2.0.3 was released in June 2008.

If I were to think long enough, I might find a reason for one star. But why should I?
As a user of FrameMaker for about 30 years, I have to say that Adobe have done the technical writing community a very bad disservice with release 9.
In short: the interface has a mind of its own. Try placing a dialog box where you would like it, and it morphs into something else. (Continual muttering, cursing and swearing!)
Am I too old to learn a new product? I don't think so: new software (rather than mindless change for the sake of change) still fascinates me. But that is not the worst point. The thing is completely unstable. It has crashed out on me about 5 times today. That is not acceptable for what is supposed to be a professional product!

First let me start by saying that on your page it specifically indicated this product was MAC compatible and it's not. ONLY PC USERS can use this product and I have a MAC. I gave the cd to someone who owns a PC so they could at least use it. So going forward I probably won't order from Amazon again if it's something to do with computer software. I was very disappointed when I received my CD and could not use it.

First, we've been using an ancient version of Timeslips when I though we should upgrade (I'm taking over my father practice)
From my experience in time and billing software in other medium-size NYC accounting firms, I thought this would be relatively straight forward.. it's not. I've read most of the owner's manual and talk to support twice, and I've gotten as far as entering 2 months worth of time for 4 employees using their spreadsheet template call "Time sheet slip entry" (a spreadsheet data entry system as compared to a slip entry) and it's been a nightmare.. very frustrating.
Instead of a straight forward approach, the programmers made this product too complicated..
Someone using the "Slip Entry" method may be simpler, but for employee's ease, the "Time sheet slip entry" is/should be a lot faster.
I will write a second review later when I work through the billing process..
PS: You can download a trial version from the Timeslip's website and try it for 30 days..

It would have been nice to know the following response from vendor after returned before purchase: Unfortunately, we do not support Confidant anymore. You will also see this problem if you are trying to install the program on a Windows 7 computer. Confidant is not compatible with Windows 7.

I've been a heavy user of Microsoft Money for years and have a rather extensive financial history available instantly. (Be sure to back up data every time you exit.)
Please take note that this version is NOT the most recent release. While the progressive versions aren't "better" than Money 2004, you will find it impossible to automatically download and import financial data since this version is no longer supported. Note that this doesn't impact your ability to manually import from the websites of various financial institutions, but if you rely on the automatic updates, you will be unable to do these as the support period has expired.

If the core (Microsoft Project 2002) didn't have so many flaws this would be a major step forward in PM software. It certainly has excellent collaboration features and attempts to glue together an enterprise-wide PM system, much like industrial strength applications such as Team Results (Niku) and Primavera's P3 product do.
However, what continues to hold this back as a slick looking, but not so useful, tool is the fact that it still cannot correctly compute earned value, and the lack of emphasis on planning and estimating. It's a wonderful GANTT chart creator if you don't mind it doing what it wants instead of what you want, and comes close to Lotus Notes as a project specific collaboration tool.
If you want to actually plan and control projects though you'll be disappointed. Also, if you are in a large company the chances are you are either mainframe, midrange or Unix centric and the sharepoint server and other MS platforms may raise your total costs of ownership (not to mention wreaking havoc with availability and security vulnerabilities).

I have used Quicken for many years and I've always liked the product. This version is a nice upgrade and is probably worth it for any Quicken owner to pick it up.
I also picked up Microsoft Money 2002 since it had a great rebate from the wholesale store. Money will convert Quicken 2001 files cleanly, so it was easy to compare the products. Microsoft Money is different, but equally capable for the most part. I recommend Microsoft Money to anyone who has not already become familiar with Quicken. Money seems to be easier to learn and use than Quicken. But if you are comfortable with Quicken, I don't see any real value in Money over Quicken to justify the learning curve.
WARNING!!! I recently had a minor problem with a corrupt quicken file which I corrected. It made me more consciences about running VALIDATE periodically. Before upgrading to Quicken 2002, I ran Validate and Super-Validate and no problems were found. After upgrading I ran Validate and Super-Validate again, with no problems. I went online to update my register and post payments and then I ran Validate once again. This time I had 167 errors. I don't know what it "fixed", but I got really nervous. I validated a second time, no problems. I went online again the next day, then validated again, and more errors were found. I hope that Quicken is just cleaning up some online garbage ... no apparent problems exist in my data ... just please run VALIDATE frequently to be extra safe, and run your backups too.
I also had a problem where I had duplicate scheduled payments in my Quicken schedule. I was able to identify which payments were legitimate and which were not, so I cleaned up that mess. This problem is addressed in the Quicken knowledgebase, albeit poorly addressed.
This makes three seperate data problems with Quicken. One with Quicken 2001 and two with Quicken 2002. All within the last two months. All three were caused by Quicken, so I am getting nervous about trusting this company with my data. I am running Validate frequently now and I recommend that you do too.
I like Quicken and I will continue to use it as long as I can continue to trust it with my data. I like the new features in this upgrade. Microsoft Money is a great product as well, but not worth the learning curve to switch. If you do buy or use Quicken, just be extra careful to validate your data frequently.

I bought ReadIris 7 based on its price and on the claims made on the package. It was terrible. ReadIris promos and manuals claim the program gets smarter as you use it. That is undoubtedly true, but it starts out so stupid that you have a huge amount of work ahead of you just to get it functioning even close to the way it should. Frequently it expects you to go through an entire document with it and tell it which bitmaps represent which letter. This can be incredibly time consuming.
When ReadIris 11 came out, I figured that four versions later it probably does the things it says it does. It doesn't. I still had the same problem with it garbling large portions of a text image, so I wanted to see what it would do with a perfect text. I created a Word file, saved it as a PDF, and then saved the PDF as a JPEG. Since the text was perfect, ReadIris should have been able to process it perfectly. However, it still garbled about 10 percent of the text and expected me to go through the bitmaps again and tell it how to read things.
ReadIris 11 is also very crash prone if your page contains graphics. The box and the manual say it can process these things well, but today it crashed five or six times trying to process a document that contained simple black-and-white graphics. It succeeded in processing it only after I went into a photo editing program and removed the graphics from the image. This crashing is a serious problem, because I have a brand-new Macintosh G5 with 1.5 GB of RAM. If it crashes so easily on my machine, what does it do in more modest computers?
One odd but telling thing about ReadIris 11 is that the box and manual claim that it can perform certain tasks "perfectly". If a software company is so naive as not to know that, in the US market, claiming a product performs "perfectly" can lead to an expensive fraud suit, it should set off an alarm in the consumer's head.
A far better Mac OCR program, which, sadly, is not sold as a standalone, is the OS X version of FineReader that was found on the utility disks that came with Epson all-in-one printers a year or two ago. In contrast to ReadIris, this program does perform almost perfectly, but you can't buy it in a box or as a download, unfortunately.

I love this program with a few exceptions. It would be so much better if the report templates were easier to change/create, you could attach files to email templates for mail merge docs being sent to lookups/groups and didn't slow your system down so much. Otherwise, I use it everyday and can't imagine my business without it.

Wow, take a program that had some decent features and screw it up. If you don't compress and reindex MINIMUM once a day this thing actually loses info as you type it in! We have close to 7,000 contacts. I called regarding the losing of info and was advised "the program wasn't designed for holding that many contacts". Hello! It's a contact database! If this isn't designed for holding thousands of contacts what are they doing selling it as a contact database? We use it because we must as we use ACT on a daily basis and can't go without it at all. We put all our (abbreviated) conversations in the notes section so it's vital to our business. But, if another product comes along that will make the transition smooth, fast and easy we'll go for it. Or if those ever-changing software manufacturers of ACT get it together and make a version that can actually hold and KEEP info we'll go with that but so far that hasn't happened. My recommendation? Use Outlook.

Had a bit of an issue getting the DVD to run properly. Called the technical support # and received prompt and accurate help. Turned out to be a setting in Quicktime.
I found the DVD very informative and helpful. Much better than reading a book. And it was convenient, I could train whenever I had time in my schedule without having to travel anywhere.

This program refused to install on my window 7 units; 32 or 64 verison. This is after I exchanged the program twice - same result; Called the tech support and it still doesn't work.
However, It does works on my old xp machine; I haven't test it on my mac yet - but I think it should work okay.
But seeing how their software had been plague by tech issues - (last year, I also exchanged the disk twice due to disks failure, one had no program on it.) I am guessing I will start using other tax program next year - too bad too because they were great programs.

I use MS Outlook 2003 continuosly as a Project Manager of multiple million dollar projects. PlanPlus for Outlook is an Outlook plugin that uses the existing Outlook product with out effecting the function by enabling you to use the Outlook the way it was intended or much better than intended. PlanPlus home view screen is exactly what I was looking for to see everything neatly organized on one screen.

I am a faithfull follower of Steven Covey and his 7 Habits and this was the tool to enable me to fully execute his teachings. As a matter of fact, I am sure my recent promotion was sealed after sharing PlanPlus trial and teaching others how to use PlanPlus effectively. I was using MS Project to manage my large projects but now I have moved them into PlanPlus projects with great success. If you study the 7 Habits and apply the principles using PlanPlus you can't help but to be successful at work and in your family life.
Now I am not as stressed out with balancing work and home. I get things done!
