I took an online introductory course for Project 2007 ($100)and did well, but did not realize just how much more there was to this program. I began looking for more online courses to consider, when I decided to look into training videos and I found this one. Although all the reviews had a very high rating of this product the one that convinced me the most I think, was someone stated that they were very skeptical because of the price of the video, and after the additional comments they made I decided to purchase the product. What a deal!! Although I am a novice to project management and to this program I have no doubt now that I can achieve so much more after using this training video. I will say, that there is a lot of data and information in this video to retain, but it is very thorough and easy to understand, and it is also broken down so well that you do not have to watch for 20 minutes to get whatever information you need to brush up on or refresh your memory. I have since bought a couple of more of Kirt's videos to improve my knowledge in some other programs. Great job Kirt!!!! I want to thank you all for the excellent reviews that lead me to believe in and purchase this product. I would recommend this to anyone whether they are just starting to learn about the program or if they just need to brush up on Project 2007.

I am an avid note-take, both for my engineering job and as a freelance writer. I used MS OneNote when I had a PC, but when I migrated to a Mac, I was left searching for a suitable replacement. I have used Aquamind's NoteTaker and NoteShare for the last several months. But that program is so burdensome to use, I just couldn't take it any more. I finally landed on Notebook, which has been a great fit. It is similar to the Aquaminds product, but much easier to use and works better with Mac OS X. So far it has integrated perfectly with Address Book, Mail, Grabber, Services, and other Mac system elements. Some of the best features are stickies and flags, as well as the Multidex, which creates an index of your Notebook on the fly using several different parameters (e.g., capitalized words, highlighted text, check boxes, flags, web clippings, attachments, etc.). This allows me to quickly find project information, web clippings, etc. Notebook also allows you to record audio notes, and if you take notes or type while audio is recorded, it keeps track of where during the audio the typing was done. Another very neat feature is that you export a full Notebook as an interactive web page and it behaves very similarly to the actual notebook. I have used this when I wanted to send project notes to a colleague. I exported the notebook and he was able to work it in his browser. Notebook also syncs to-dos with iCal, but I don't use this feature very much. I use Things for my To-Dos, which is a great program is you have lots of tasks and projects with a multitude of To-do's.
What about areas for improvement? The program acts a little funky sometimes when I use OS X's spelling corrector on the fly. The program will occasionally appear to freeze, but it does come back to life. There are other program tweaks that would be nice, but they are not significant enough to list out here. Notetaker has just the right features and is just comprehensive enough to not get in the way of taking notes.

I could not agree more with some of the customers' reviews here on Amazon: QB Pro on Windows 7 64-bit cannot be used for your business.
Our company upgraded our computers to Windows 7 64-bit along with Quickbooks 2010 to try it out, but have not transitioned the whole company over to QB 2010 because it just has so many things that don't work.
The most important issue that the fact that printing just doesn't work consistently, neither for pdf's (sending estimates, POs, reconciliation) nor simply printing invoices and receipts. If you try to follow suggestions posted on QB support discussion forums, the fix lasts about a day or so. After rebooting your computer or even QB again, the issue begins again. It's impossible to run a business with Quickbooks 2010 if one cannot print. For non-QB programs, printing works perfectly. So this is clearly a QB problem.
Due to the above, we've resorted to running the business with Quickbooks 2006 with off our older computers that have Windows XP 32-bit. Completely frustrating.
I'm not a person who likes to criticize products. I'm providing this review to simply warn users who have Windows 7 64-bit to really stay away from Quickbooks from 2010 until Intuit resolves the issue. It's really unfair that QB is asking us to pay for customer support when the issue is clearly because the product does not work.

I've been using one flavor of Project or another for years. I've never had formal training in the tool, so I'll be the first to admit that my ignorance of the deeper details of the Project package is fairly high. However it's fairly easy to see that this time around, we didn't get what we'd hoped for. While on the one hand we have an interface that finally matches the look and feel of the rest of the Office Suite, on the other we have buggy behavior and difficult processes that were made to accommodate the 2010 facelift.
If you missed out on Office 2007...well, you didn't miss much with Project 2007 - it looked and behaved fairly much the same way Project 2003 did. While the rest of the Office suite were moved to an entirely new design, Project and Visio were given a raincheck, with the promise to be revamped in the 2010 suite. With the 2010 version of Project, we now get the following changes:
The "Ribbon" replaces toolbars (as per the rest of Office 2007)
Instead of dragging this or that toolbar, lining them up how you like them, and adding/removing various toolbars, there is one band across the top of the Office products that is broken into sections. Each section contains categories relevant to the area that you're working in. This concept was introduced in 2007, and in 2010 it's further broken up into tabs: click a tab and the ribbon changes to the items for that tab.
The "Ribbon" also has tabs (new to Office 2010)
For example, the default "Task" tab will show you a ribbon for Clipboard, Schedule, Tasks, Insert, Properties, and Editing. Each has buttons and tools in it, such as Cut/Copy/Paste/Format Painter in "Clipboard", or font size, style, and color in "Font". "View" will toggle the Gantt chart on and off. If you click the top of a column or on a header, "Tasks" and "Insert" might become grayed out because you cannot perform these actions on a column or header. Click the "Resource" tab and you have a new ribbon, of "View" (which will now toggle "Team Planner" on and off), Assignments, Insert (which is now about Inserting people), Properties, and Level.
We use Project Professional fairly simply: keep a timeline, make some estimates, hand in to management on a regular basis. Unfortunately, we have some very particular yet simple features that seem to have been broken going to Project 2010. We have a specific color scheme and the standard colors in Project 2007 are gone...this brings Project 2010 more inline with the default palette for the rest of the suite. We can make custom colors to perfectly match by typing in the correct RGB values...if you like fiddling with graphics concepts that much (isn't that more for a web designer than a Project Manager?). The concept of editing the font has been stripped down to the minimal buttons...and when you need to go further you will need to start using the "Text Styles" feature that also mimics Word.
Which then brings us to the bugs. For reasons I can't figure out, changing one task and clicking Save is causing some individual fields in unrelated tasks to change their font size. Using Print Preview has gone from "What You See is What You Get" to "What You See May or May Not Work You Should Try Re-opening Your File". And the most difficult issue we've had has been with concurrency. You are allowed to install Project 2010 and keep your existing Project 2007 installation. You are prompted during install, and then you're prompted again to ditch the old version when you first launch Project. If you say no to all of these things, you can keep both instances of Project installed...but you can't run them. Whichever version of Project you launch will be the ONLY version that will launch until you reboot. I have 2007 and 2010 on separate hard drives and if I double-click the executable in the 2007 program folder...but I've already opened Project 2010 once today...then 2010 is what will be launched. Unless I reboot.
Project Professional 2010 is the first serious overhaul to Microsoft Project in a while. While the intention was to bring it up to speed with the rest of the suite, I get the impression it wasn't a finished product. If you are considering it, I highly suggest both familiarizing yourself with the basics of the new Office 2010 interface...and starting over from scratch with your older files. If you are considering keeping dual versions installed, you may want to consider taking the leap or staying behind, and not trying to do both.
It is my hope that a service pack or other update will improve Project 2010. Until then, I have to recommend against the new version.

I am still disappointed in Bento. I've been hoping they would get it right for a couple years now. Bento is very easy to set up and go, but that is due to its stultifying simplicity. Filemaker, Bento's big brother, is comprehensive but complex. Why can't Bento make up the middle ground??
Bento is easy to use, has a few good features, but many serious, frustrating limitations. As far as I can tell, this version just adds some social networking (web sharing) capability and integration with iPads, and that's about it. It is otherwise very close to Bento 3 (and see my 2-star review of that).
Bento has some good features:
- it integrates well with the MAC environment (address book, calendar, iPhoto)
- it is *fairly* easy to import data from spreadsheets (only. and still very basic and limited)
- it is quick for setting up simple database forms that look nice (but simple)
- it lets you move data to your iPhone/iPad with their app (although this has room for improvement)
- it has some mathematical field capabilities, but very rudimentary
- they offer access to a lot of free templates to get you started and to give you ideas
Obviously, Bento focuses on ease of use and integration, as well as simple, attractive appearance. But Bento still lacks flexibility, analytical features, and interoperability with other data applications and formats.
It is still very limited when it comes to:
- creating reports (repeating or otherwise) and/or summaries (unable to do them)
- creating summaries that are mathematically derived from other fields (cannot do it)
- sorting drop-down lists (can't do it)
- field definitions (small, canned set)
- free-form design/creativity (don't have it)
- database relationships (they make it sound simple, but it's clunky and limited)
- analyzing your data (simplicity of forms and lack of math make it impossible to really examine your data)
- graphical images (automatic formatting restricts how you can use images in your forms)
- data export (you're limited to text or spreadsheet)
Bento isn't expensive, tho it ain't cheap either, but it might not be money well spent, since it is very feature-free. It should be half the price. Bento's big brother, FileMaker, is expensive and for most people NOT money well spent, since it contains many more features (and complexity) than an average user needs.
If you're new to databases, or need to manage a simple mailing list or club membership, you might find this application sufficient for your needs. I recommend you download the trial version first before you buy.
This bento box is a snack that leaves you wanting more. I'm still waiting for them to get it right!

This does everything [as advertised]. I also have Ultra Wincleaner version 8 which works on WINDOWS XP. Before installing the NEW version 11, I ran version 8 [1] last time. After installing the new software, I was surprised to find out that it located and cleaned an additional 45.75 MB of junk files. Another good feature is that it protects the [user specified] cookies during cleaning. There is a chart on the box that shows the comparative differance between WINCLEANER ONE CLICK [100.0% effective], SYSTEM WORKS [81.8% effective], and SYSTEM MECHANIC [3.2% effective]. I have used ALL [3] of the programs listed and can verify that the performance differances on my system closely match the advertised figures!

This program is supposed to produce reports itemizing vendor expenses and tenant income. There seemed to be a problem when I tried to load the program on Windows XL and again with Vista. I could never get this program to produce any reports for expenses or income. I tried to get software support online. After sending me a patch that did not work, all subsequent e-mails were ignored. This is terrible product with terrible customer service and should be avoided!! It was a complete waste of my money!

I was hoping that Acrobat X would be faster with less glitches than Acrobat Pro 9. However, it is actually worse! The tools are so disorganized. In Acrobat Pro 9, you can customize the tool box in an intuitive fashion, but in version X, it is so convoluted and I couldn't figure out how to make it the way I wanted. Also the Typewriter now pops up with its own window that you cannot integrate into the tool bar. What the heck? And the interface is just ugly. What were the designers thinking???
Don't waste your money on this, and stick to the Acrobat Pro 9.

Workgroup edition is an entry-level version of sql server 2005. I've used it successfully in our small departments, and for when I didn't need BI. For heavy lifting, you'll need a higher, more full-featured version. For BI (analysis services, reporting services, notification services, transformation services) you'll need at least standard. To help get sql server set up and configured properly I relied heavily on Stanek's SQL Server 2005 Administrator's Pocket Consultant, at just under 600 pages it packs in lots of detail.

This video is a complete overview (6 min.) of Big E-Z Books 2010 - Business Edition using Excel 2007. (The software works exactly the same way for the Personal Edition) It is very easy to set up, use and even to correct errors. This version (2010) has a repeating transaction feature that allows you to enter a description on the first row in the January file and it will automatically repeat on all twelve monthly files. It's a great time saving feature over the 2009 version.

Take careful note of the complaints from others about non existent customer service on this product. This software has the makings of a fabulous product, but it is rendered useless by ZERO customer service. I own V4.0 from a previous scanner purchase. We needed an additional scanner so I contacted customer service to ask about compatibility between V4 and V5. Customer service could not be reached and my email question was completely ignored.
This is not cheap software. There is no excuse for customers to be treated so disrespectfully. If you think there is any possibility you might need customer support for this product, do not buy it. Customer support does not exist. Such a pity, for this could have been a great companion product to an excellent scanner.

Paperless (formerly Receipt Wallet) is to the Mac what Visioneer/Nuance Paperport was to the PC. I use Paperless with a Fujitsu ScanSnap for Mac. The integration is perfect. Paperless detects the ScanSnap easily. You can Paperless as one of ScanSnap's file destination. Apparently you must buy this directly from the Mariner Software site.
Highlights of Paperless:
> OCR to automatically read your receipts.
> Plenty of categorization options for your documents. I have a separate database for work and home papers. You can categorize as much as you like (insurance, recipes, tax records, etc) and SmartViews and folders are easy to set up.
> Perfect integration with my ScanSnap.
> Good user's manual.
Lowlight:
> When you scan, I believe the scan defaults to the last database opened. It would be good if you could designate which database you want to scan to without having it up and open. Maybe you can and I'm missing something here?
