(More customer reviews)I've used Quicken since 1994 when I bought my first computer and Quick 2.0 came preinstalled. Since then I've tried MS-Money twice. I keep going back to Quicken. It's intuitive, logical and makes reconciling the check book a breeze. I admit that my finaces are fairly simple and others may need the deluxe or small business versions of the program, but I think for the average person the basic program is perfect. I don't upgrade every year. I don't think there's a need to. I up grade about every two yeaars. I moved from version 2.0 to Quicken 98 to Quicken 2000 to the current version. The program is very stable. I haven't had problems with bugs or crashes in any version. I recommend it.

Basically, the only thing on here I felt was helpful was the sample business plan. I was okay paying 4 dollars for that. At least I have an outline to follow now.

Pocket Money 2.1 Review

(More customer reviews)I am a HUGE fan of PocketMoney and have been for a year and half ever since I tried out the demo version. This simple little program is easy to use and will help you to keep your finances in line with minimal effort! I have tried Pocket Quicken as well and I'm happy to say that Pocket Money 2.1 is easier to use and more powerful (as well as less expensive!) than even Pocket Quicken. And as I mentioned in my title, this the only Palm app that I use on a daily basis..aside from the Datebook!
I use this in place of Quicken or MS Money. You heard me right...this little app is robust enough to be your stand alone financial software. Even better is that it's portable and does many of the things the desktop money managers do. Of course you can use it as a supplement for Quicken/MS Money as it does export QIF files, but on it's own, PM has the power and features to do everything you need.
Setting up accounts is easy as is doing the actual tracking of debits/credits and so on. You can set up recurring payments, regular deposits, and so on. You can set up which accounts are counted as part of your total net worth on the overview screen so that you always have a snapshot of just how much money you really have. The portability factor is great...stop at an ATM or purchase something and you can quickly record the transaction with a minimum of stylus taps and not have to worry about entering the receipts in your desktop PC when you get home.
The app is stable (never crashes), small in size (only a few hundred Kilobytes) and the password screen is a welcome basic safety feature. Plus, all your card info and bank contact data can safely be stored in this app in the event that you lose your wallet or need to call your bank!
If you buy just one Palm application or if you feel the need to organize your finances (and keep them organized), Pocket Money is a worthwhile purchase. I can't say enough about this great product!

Microsoft Money 2006 Premium Review

(More customer reviews)It's a shame that Microsoft stopped producing "Money". It does everything the average person needs to keep track of finances. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The Windows 7 version can accomodate "Money" but I doubt that future upgrades will. However, Money will no longer connect to the internet for on-line banking, stock price updates, etc. If this is important to you, find other software.

Quicken 2004 Premier Home & Business Review

(More customer reviews)I have been using Intuit products for many years, especially Quickbooks Pro and Quicken Home and Business. I must say that with each new version, it does not get easier...just more complicated and buggier. I am probably one of the few who have successfully used Quickbooks Premier Contractor 2003, but I can't say the same for Quicken Premier Home and Business 2004. I have spoken to tech support and they said they've had no problems at all with this software.
I found the interface very busy. What happened to my simple checkbook register where I write checks? There's now a "Home" column on the lefthand side of the register that lists categories. It took me awhile to find my personal checking account listing. That "Home" column is permanent, something you cannot delete and it takes up too much room. At least with the QB 2001 I could "X" out the bottom pane. There's no hope with this. You can expand the register box, and kind of shrink the annoying column. It's a busybox!
I have a problem with delayed response from the keyboard. The words are delayed by about 2 seconds as I'm typing...very annoying. And if I hold down the Backspace key, it stutters backwards to erase something.
I placed a call twice to Intuit. First rep said she never heard of this. I told her I have. Told me to uninstall the software, copy CD to harddrive, and reinstall in Safe Mode. Said it would correct the delayed typing, since she felt that no drivers would load and I should use "Custom" installation and put it in a new folder. Didn't work. Don't waste your time. Same problem exists.
Called again and second tech said that Quicken 2004 doesn't like my computer. Gee, thanks. He said it's something in my database that is causing the delayed typing.
I told them when they get enough calls from irate customers, please put out a patch, that it isn't just me I'm sure. I told them from what I've been reading, their new improved software stinks. QB Home & Bus 2001 worked flawlessly.
My advice: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." I should have listened to myself

Landlord's Tenant Management Pro By Socrates Review

There seemed to be a problem when I tried to load the program on Windows XL and again with Vista. I could never get this program to produce any reports for expenses or income. I tried to get software support online. After sending me a patch that did not work, all subsequent e-mails were ignored. This is terrible product with terrible customer service and should be avoided!! It was a complete waste of my money!
