Not what I was looking for, I emailed the seller & never heard back on whether they accept returns. I was looking for small business software & this was terrible.

QuickBooks New Business Starter Kit Review

This disk is a few years old, but I was sad to find out that you can't access all of its information because you can't get a code. Basically, the only thing on here I felt was helpful was the sample business plan. I was okay paying 4 dollars for that. At least I have an outline to follow now.

THE OFFICIAL ACT BY SAGE Review

This book is more detailed than most "How-to's" in the tech category.
If you want to learn a LOT about how to use this program, don't even THINK about going with the Dummies version (I have both).
The downside is that there are is extraordinary amount of features in this program, so there are several areas that you could drill down quite a bit deeper.

Quicken 2004 Premier Home & Business Review

Quicken 2004 Premier Home and Business
Average Reviews:

I have been using Intuit products for many years, especially Quickbooks Pro and Quicken Home and Business. I must say that with each new version, it does not get easier...just more complicated and buggier. I am probably one of the few who have successfully used Quickbooks Premier Contractor 2003, but I can't say the same for Quicken Premier Home and Business 2004. I have spoken to tech support and they said they've had no problems at all with this software.
I found the interface very busy. What happened to my simple checkbook register where I write checks? There's now a "Home" column on the lefthand side of the register that lists categories. It took me awhile to find my personal checking account listing. That "Home" column is permanent, something you cannot delete and it takes up too much room. At least with the QB 2001 I could "X" out the bottom pane. There's no hope with this. You can expand the register box, and kind of shrink the annoying column. It's a busybox!
I have a problem with delayed response from the keyboard. The words are delayed by about 2 seconds as I'm typing...very annoying. And if I hold down the Backspace key, it stutters backwards to erase something.
I placed a call twice to Intuit. First rep said she never heard of this. I told her I have. Told me to uninstall the software, copy CD to harddrive, and reinstall in Safe Mode. Said it would correct the delayed typing, since she felt that no drivers would load and I should use "Custom" installation and put it in a new folder. Didn't work. Don't waste your time. Same problem exists.
Called again and second tech said that Quicken 2004 doesn't like my computer. Gee, thanks. He said it's something in my database that is causing the delayed typing.
I told them when they get enough calls from irate customers, please put out a patch, that it isn't just me I'm sure. I told them from what I've been reading, their new improved software stinks. QB Home & Bus 2001 worked flawlessly.
My advice: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." I should have listened to myself

Quicken Home & Business 2011 Review

Quicken Home and Business 2011

I was not a beta tester and was not "encouraged" to write a glowing review by Intuit. This review only speaks to the question of whether this is a worthwhile upgrade from the 2010 version. The 2011 version contains very few new features when compared to the 2010 version. Whether you find these new features worth the upgrade price is debatable. The quicken site is a bit misleading in their "new features" list since many of the items they mention were already in the 2010 version. As with past Quicken upgrades, they largely give you MORE of a existing feature, and not much in the way of new features. So, for example, MORE banks are supported for direct connect. MORE transactions can be automatically categorized since auto-categorization already existed. So in these cases, if your banks are already supported and you don't use auto-categorization, then these enhancements are irrelevant. So for those thinking of upgrading from 2010, here's the list of only NEW features in the 2011 version:
- All Transactions register: This could be handy if you use many accounts and want to enter, maintain and view your transactions in one place. However, if you download transactions from your banking and investment institutions, the download window does not show up when you are in this mode, so you will be forced to continue using the individual account registers anyway.
- Register customization: You can decide which columns appear in each individual register. Transaction Notes can now be shown/edited as a column instead of treating them like an attachment.
- Attachment Encryption: I'm fairly certain this wasn't in the prior version. I guess you can now password protect attachments.
- The usual "Where's Waldo" changes to the program: They've moved menu items and eliminated speed button lists in registers. I imagine they did this to make the interface "look" simpler/cleaner, but now you have to rummage through the menus to find them. So, for example, the "Live Community" speed button was eliminated; It is now found as a "Help" menu item. Also, each account's "Overview" speed button has been eliminated; You now find that in the "Account Actions" menu. Since it is likely that the eliminated speed buttons were rarely needed by most users, the changes will be well received. That's it! Is it worth the upgrade? You decide.
