Football Manager 2010 Review

I wasn't able to use the download options on SI's website, as I was deployed to Iraq at the time, so Amazon's option to get a hard copy was vital. I got the game (in Iraq!) only a few days after it was released.
If you haven't played since before 2008 or 2007, you certainly need to pick up 2010. The version is a great leap forward. Visually, it's a lot like 2009. The game play continues to give you more power, but in a way that's easier to understand. One of the options I particularly enjoy is where, instead of moving sliders, you assign a player a "type" of position, based on where he is on the field. This will determine how he plays that position. Instead of just a Striker, you can have a Deep-Lying Forward, Poacher, Target Man, etc. It's (in my mind, at least) a more intuitive way of doing business.
I'm hopelessly addicted to FM2010.

Medieval: Total War Gold Edition Review

Medieval: Total War Gold Edition

Activision and SEGA, who created the Gold Edition made a major error with this product. When downloading the 2.01 patch to play Multiplayer, the game does not recognize the Gold Edition as a Medieval Total War or Viking Invasion game (since this is a 3-CD set) and will not install. An unofficial patch has been created, but you will never be able to play Multiplayer with this "Gold Edition". I mailed SEGA/Activision with a complaint about this failed product and their failure to fix the error, and I was supplied with another copy, which was the Medieval Total War: Battle Collection" copy. I do not advise purchasing this error-ridden product.

Risk, Gold Edition Review

After spending many weeks trying to find an "old" copy of Risk II to buy, I found this. It has Risk I, Risk II, and Civilization II all in one box. This whole package was cheaper than buying one of the old copies of Risk II alone!
You get the best of all worlds...Risk one includes a great classic version of the game, plus the added games of Castle Risk (I think thats what they call it) where you can play with states in Europe and have attacking strategies. Risk two has great graphics, and the addition of simultaneous risk is a GREAT addition...really gives the game new life that isn't possible off the computer. I haven't ever played Civ II, but I am sure it is in there for a reason...
BUY THIS if you like Risk...you get them all for next to NOTHING!

Supreme Ruler 2010 Review

I'm an old-time PC gamer, and have been saying for years "god, I wish someone would release a solid, comprehensive hex-style/board-game style grande strategy game based on modern day military and politics rather than the same old WWII sims". I stumbled across this game quite by accident when reading over a review of the game on a popular game site. I was overjoyed! I downloaded the demo and was completely taken aback at the level of complexity (which I love), the volume of detail, and the smooth interface. I enjoyed my Arizona vs New Mexico game so much I ran out and bought the game.
Be warned: The game does have a steep learning curve. This is not for the casual RTS gamer. The few reviewers that have written negative reviews touched on this. So, if you are used to playing Grand Theft Auto, The Sims, or Command & Conquer, rather than Hearts of Iron and Operational Art of War, be prepared to invest considerable time learning the games economic, social, and policital models before jumping in an invading your neighboring countries. But, if you are persistent, the game really is not to hard to learn after a couple hours and the game developers are very helpful on their official game site forum. I spent about four hours with the demo and about two hours with the full game (after reading the great 155 page manual) to get the hang of the complexity of the game.
I've now completed three campaigns (lost two), and am having a great time. This is a serious, comprehensive wargame that sets out to model modern warfare, and does a top-notch job. I STRONGLY recommend this game to any serious wargamer. If you're not convinced, try the demo, and don't go by negative reviews.

This download experience is an absolute joke. There is some verification software packaged with the game that is aimed at stopping piracy. This software is riddled with bugs and glitches that they're still trying to fix. Just buy the boxed version of Football Manager. I will never download another game from Amazon.

Royal Envoy [Game Download] This is a GREAT game! I have now played it through to completion two times, and am thinking about starting it over again. :-) Unlike the previous reviewer who is not actually reviewing the GAME, but technical difficulties... I can say without doubt that this is one of my favorite "fit it in" games! I love sitting down and playing a few chapters in the morning with a cup of coffee before the kids wake up. ;) I highly recommend this game with its great graphics and fun storyline. I would also recommend you look for an online hints/walkthrough for the higher levels... just to give you an idea of what exactly you should be doing for the chapter, which is very helpful. Overall, a big "thumbs up" from Playrix!
P.S. Unlike the previous reviewer, I had no difficulties with Amazon downloading or playing this game on my laptop, which is running Vista. Perhaps they got a bum download site??? as I know Amazon has several different download portals that the games come through on... I would suggest the previous reviewer contact Amazon Customer Service and see if they can redirect their download site or something... but again, I had no problems myself with this game download. Happy Playing! :)
