Everquest: Titanium Review

Everquest: Titanium
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In some ways Everquest hasn't changed all that much, while in others it is a completely different game from what it was even a year ago. Some things about the game have been drastically improved (like tradeskills) and if you like a more quiet atmosphere on a game server; the population is a little lower these days as most of the kiddies have moved on to World of Warcraft, EQ2, etc.
If you have friends still playing the original Everquest, or are just looking for something to do to pass the time, EQ Titanium just might work for you.
This packaged game does include 10 of the expansions, more than enough to play with old buddies if you've taken a leave of absence like I did a little over a year ago. The price is the major factor for this unit, as the expansions individually do not come cheap.
Overall 4 stars for affordability, 4 stars for fun factor (There aren't as many people to play with, making the game just a bit slower paced for casual gamers.)

Thief II: The Metal Age Review

Thief II: The Metal Age
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After trying the first mission in Thief 2:The Metal age I was dazzled. The developers at Ion Storm have truly lived up to the promise of a better sequel for we slobbering Thief fans. The original Thief was thought not to do well because of its twist on the first-person shooter. But when it hit the shelves it sold like hot cakes. To those of you run-and-gun fans this might not be the game for you. Thief 2 consists heavily on keeping out of sight and sticking to the shadows. You are not a war hero that can take some few thousand bullet wounds, you are no more than a common thief trying to hold your own. The game has changed a significantly since the original game. The characters in Thief 2 are much smoother and less blocky looking. The physics have also had a dramatic change with new fog effects and etc. The AI's intelligence has been increased as well. This game is fun to play and if you buy it, it will take some time to complete. It can be dificult at times so I suggest buying a strategy guide. I can't tell you how much fun it is when a nobleman offends you, and then you loot him for all he's worth. This is definetly one to get.

Zoo Tycoon Expansion Pack: Dinosaur Digs Review

Zoo Tycoon Expansion Pack: Dinosaur Digs
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was thrilled to read the initial press releases about this game - and I have been very impressed by the actual game thus far. I bought it the day it came out, and am still having fun playing it a week later. These are the following dinosaurs/prehistoric animals that you will be able to house in a zoo: (1) Smilodon (sabertooth cat), (2) Wooly Mammoth, (3) Wooly Rhino, (4) Giant Turtle, (5) Stegosaurous, (6) T-Rex, (7) Allosaurous, (8) Velociraptor, (9) Triceratops (which you unlock with a cheat code), (10) Lambeosaurus (Duck-billed hadrosaurs), (11) Styracosaurus(Five-horned Dino), (12) Ankylosaurous (armor plated with bony tail), (13)Iguanodon, (14)Spinosaurus, (15)Plesiosaurus, (16)Kentrosaurus (cousin of the stegosaurus), (17) Caudipteryx (lean green hunter), (18) Coeleophysis (bird-dinosaur), (19) Herrerasaurus (very cool striped hunter - my favorite in the game!), (20) Apatosaurus, (21) Camptosaurus (gentle herbivore)...plus there is one more "unlock" animal in the game that is revealed when you make it to the later scenerios - it is very impressive!!! Also, you may ... via the special "internal update" function of the game and download two additional new dinosaurs. I'll just let those be a surprise for you, but they are also very cool. I have wanted to build my own Jurassic Park since that movie came out in 1994...this Zoo Tycoon expansion is our first chance to do it!!! Along with the animals, the game designers have also created a ton of prehistoric fauna and other items such as volcanoes to add to the exhibits. There is even a "Recovery Team" that includes a helicopter that takes off and captures the dinos when they get loose - and you know they will indeed get loose at some point. The animals in this game actually test the fences for weaknesses and attack the same spots repeatedly to facilitate an escape. There are electrified fences and giant concrete walls to try to keep these monsters penned - but good luck - they were born to cause mayhem! This expansion pack has 6 cool new scenerios for you to play with as well: An Ice-Age Zoo and a Jurassic Zoo are just two of them. There is even a scenerio where you have to salvage the remains of a "Dino Park" after its previous owner had to abandon it when things went horribly awry. Like Zoo Tycoon, there are also buildings to place in the park that have animals inside them, but which cannot be further manipulated by you - in this case, A Pteranodon Aviary, a Prehistoric Amphibians House, and a Jurassic Cinema (which has different movies on the Marquee like Dinosaurs Attack!). There is even a playground with dinosaur slides and different fossil statues to place around the zoo for aesthetic reasons. Plus, a Mammoth Cones shop and a Bronto Burger Stand, Yummmm!
This game is a must-have. I really enjoy playing my zoo tycoon, and I couldn't wait to play this game. And for anyone reading this who is excited about creating their own Jurassic Park - in the Fall there will be an even bigger surprise. The people behind the Jurassic Park name and logo are putting together their own Dinosaur Park building game, which at this point is being called Jurassic Park: Project Genesis. You will be able to do basically what you are doing in ZT: Dinosaur Digs, only you will actually get to use the logo from the movies on your buildings and have access to supposedly realistic-looking dinosaurs. While I love the animals that were created for Zoo Tycoon, they are slightly on the cartoon/stylized level. This is not a complaint, but an observation. If you want photo-realistic dinosaurs, supposedly Project Genesis is going to be something wonderful to behold.
The only bad thing I have to say about Zoo Tycon and Dinosaur Digs is that these games are not for everyone. Dinosaur Digs is what I call a "Bonzai Game" - one that you play slowly and over long periods, which does not have a lot of blasts and explosions in it...just like nurturing a Japanese Banzai over time. If you enjoy animals, and like games that are slow to play and involve the constant maintenance and upkeep of exhibits, then you will enjoy playing this. If you are more a "Tomb Raider" kind of player, then you will be disappointed to find little action here - there are no guns, lasers, or karate chops to be found. I personally enjoy escaping from my life for a few hours and disappearing into my little zoo, creating the exhibits with great care and trying to please all my guests. I like the thrill of trying to keep all my fences intact and make sure all the animals are healthy. I enjoy arranging the different plants and sculpting the scenery just so. And, I must admit, I also enjoy the moments when one of the dinos gets loose and wrecks havoc - watching the helicopters take off and race to subdue the beast (you can't control the helicopters, you can just build a helicopter port. After that, your staff does all the flying and dino-tranquilizing).
I sincerely hope there are dozens more expansion packs for Zoo Tycoon. It is incredibly well done, hours and hours worth of entertainment. I can't wait to see what other animals the people at Microsoft are dreaming up!

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri Complete with Alien Crossfire Expansion Review

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri Complete with Alien Crossfire Expansion
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
An excellent empire building and management game.
There is also much dark sci-fi going on.
The variety of customizable factions and units along with the inclusion of terraforming makes replay value high.
Over the years I have played this for an embarrassing number of hours until I just can't play it anymore. Perhaps my highest praise is this: I wish I had never seen it so that I could start all over again.
The only down side I can report is that late in the game, especially on large maps, there is considerable lag between turns. This is reduced with modern CPUs but not eliminated.
The voice acting is superb and there was obviously a great deal of thought put into the tech tree. The graphics by today's standards are crude. Doesn't matter. Get it, enjoy the time to explore it, maybe find Vel's Strategy guide when you want to up your game.

F.E.A.R. Extraction Point Review

F.E.A.R. Extraction Point
Average Reviews:

Where to start, I was expecting much from the addon to the great game FEAR. Instead you get little. They reused much of the same textures, dark area's, and characters from the original.
No new characters to speak off,non exsistent story line even weaker than the first. You will have a hard time finding much new here.
The game is far too short, you can finish in about 3-5 hours, and its too easy, even on the hardest setting.Ohh and to top it off it adds nothing to multiplayer at all, no new levels, characters or weapons, not even a new mode.
If you never bought the original, you can have the multiplayer for free! Truly there is no reason to pick this up at all. The game is still fun in the way the first game was fun, but feels less like an expansion and more like the last few levels they left out of the game :(.
Not worth 30 dollars in anyway shape or form. Best to wait and buy in the bargin bin for 10 dollars or less. In other words don't support developers who put this kind of "stuff" out at almost full game price, its a rippoff at best.
We need to Show big companies Like EA, Activision, and Vivendi that its not alright to rip us off, the only thing they understand is not buying their products. I finished this the first night I bought it in 3.5 hours of none too exciting gameplay. Then you can uninstall and use as a coaster, an expensive coaster.

Imagine Fashion Designer Review

Imagine Fashion Designer
Average Reviews:

I agree with the other reveiwers about the fun aspects of this game, but there is something you need to know....On the back of the disk in small print you will find the following:
"Notice: This game contains technology intended to prevent copying that MAY CONFLICT with some disc and virtual drives." The word "technology usually refers to software that is planted on your system to stop you from copying this disk. The word "Conflict" means that you could find that you are no longer able to burn a CD of any kind.
I have a big problem with any program that implants unwanted controls on my hardware. It is a deal breaker for me, but you may wish to install the software anyway. Before you do, make sure that you set a "system restore" point on your computer. If you suddenly find that you have issues with your CD/DVD player or computer after installing this, remove it and go back the restore point.
You should also note the following from the back of the box "LAPTOP VERSIONS of the supported video cards are not supported though they may work." So if the program causes problems on you laptop, you are on your own.
The program supports the following DESKTOP computer cards: NVIDIA G-Force 3,4 FX,6,7,8 series, ATI Radeon 750/850/900-980/X30-X1950/HD2400-2900, S3 Graphics Chrome S27. If you have an off-brand video card it may not work on your system.

UFO: Extraterrestrials - Chaos Concept Review

UFO: Extraterrestrials - Chaos Concept
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Well, there's no doubt in my mind that this is a major XCOM clone. If you enjoyed the original you'll love this game. Although, I still think XCOM Apocalypse is better. Basically, the game is played on a map where you see continents and a UFO appears and you have to shoot it down. AFter it's shot down you send your ground units into kill/stun the aliens and capture equipment. And of course, there's loads of science to research and build. Half the fun is arming your units with the aliens weapons and killing them with it.However regular gamers will definitely be turned off by how unpolished this game is. The resolution is set at a low level and cannot be adjusted by the menu. The graphics are barely any better than the original XCOM. You can't control your aircrafts when you send them to intercept the UFOs. They'll basically just follow it and shoot or they'll just hover in the same place and shoot one another. Also, your units can't die so there's not really a big loss that you feel when your unit gets blasted by a UFO. And recruitment is automatic which might be a turn off. It's a clone to XCOM but it just lacks the soul that Microprose put in the games.PROS:
XCOM Clone down to small details
Great assortment of weapons and research to do
Killing UFOS with their own weapons!CONS:
Piss poor graphics especially in the main map
Difficulty level is all over the place. Sometimes the first UFO ground mission contains like 20 aliens sometimes 5.
Rather unpolished game and lacks heart
You can't kneel or allocate time for flash hits or aimed hits - they're automatic

The Journeyman Project Games are the best surrealistic, problem solving games in existence, even though i didn't buy this bundled package, i got the original and Buried In Time as a bundled package years ago, i later bought Legacy of Time, the third chapter to this illustrious saga. MERSCOM Space Interceptor: Project Freedom ( Windows ) Review

MERSCOM Space Interceptor: Project Freedom ( Windows )
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Recently completed "Space Interceptor" on the easy setting with the following computer specs: Pent 4 (3.06 gig). 1 gig ram, Nvidia 6800 Ultra video card, SB Audigy 2 LZ sound, 5.1 Klipsch Ultra speakers, and I/O Magic 5.1 Surround Sound headphones. Here are my viewpoints.
1. Best space shooter I've played in years and years.
2. Awesome atmosphere, graphics, sound, story, voice-acting, mechanics, etc. Explosions are great and the weapons are powerful and uniquely varied enough to make a difference.
3. Easy to play basically with just the mouse and number keys (for weapon selection)and a couple of other keys. Very responsive. Multiple flying speeds with intuitive mouse wheel control. "C" key changes view from behind, cockpit, larger perspective.
4. Unlimited ammo for regular auto guns. Limited but sufficient quantities of secondary weapon ammo. Good balance.
5. Large quantity of destructable buildings, spacecraft, and objects all with fabulous demise.
6. Missions provide variety and challenge(especially latter ones).
7. Took me about 20 hours to complete. Needed to replay some missions over several times until I determined the best strategy/tactics/weapons/flying speed.
8. Great surround stereo sound with external speakers and I/O Magic Sound Assault 5.1 Surround Sound headphones ($67)
9. Tremendous quality product in all regards for a modest and more than fair price.
10. No auto save but you can save at any spot in the game. When you complete a mission be sure to manually save or you may lose your progress point. Plenty of free "save slots."
11. Didn't have any software glitches, slow-downs, clipping, etc. Seems to be well tested, polished, refined....at least on my computer with its configuration. The minimum specs for the game imply a moderate configuration.
Some areas you may or may not like:
1. Repetitive complimentary comments from fellow flyers on successful enemy hits. "Right between the Eyes", "New Ace", etc.
2. Some repetitive mission objective declarations & cutscenes during intense mission combat. Sometimes distracts from the flow and concentration. A few presented impatiently with haughty voice.
3. Minimal opportunities to "warm-up" to the characters involved. A few jokes and some conversation but they are "fighters" not "socialites."
Overall, I would recommend this software highly for a great "Space and Shooter" romp. It may be difficult to find except through Amazon and the publisher since it unfortunately hasn't received much publicity. Gamespot.com and IGN.com both gave it favorable reviews and stimulated me to purchase. I'm glad I did.
Enjoy!

Eco Tycoon: Project Green Review

Eco Tycoon: Project Green
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The premise is great. We got it for both the fun factor and to teach my kids a bit about the balance of politics versus environment. You have to choose which R & D projects to fund, balance taxes, energy needs, popularity, policy, and such. You attend a summit every 5 years and are either congratulated for your efforts (which usually means your own people are mad at you) or pay off the countries most irritated with you to fund their own advancement efforts and/or pay fines. Sound familiar? The tutorial starts you off so you can understand the game then you proceed without further tutelage. I made it as far as a couple of decades before having blackouts and getting voted out of office, and now I'm eager to try better next time! I think a little more explanation of the graphs is in order, my only complaint so far.

I.G.I. 2 Covert Strike Review

I.G.I. 2 Covert Strike
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was actually looking forward to this stinker, but after purchasing it I came to realize that it was plagued by stability problems and it was simply no fun to play. The **most** frustrating problem is the utter lack of aiming accuracy when your character is inside a building. Try to aim for a headshot and your mouse pointer just... never... quite... goes where you want to aim. A close second on the irritation scale is the fact that enemy units can snipe you from 200 yards away with machine pistols -- yep, I'm not joking. Finally, IGI2 simply offers nothing new -- in fact, it feels as though the Innerloop developers were following some sort of first person shooter development handbook. For example, wherever there's a camera, there's a box to hide behind; wherever there's a guard, you can be sure there's a good 10 second interval where his back is to you. The original IGI (although sometimes incredibly frustrating) was actually quite fun -- it improved with replay. But, this sequel makes you wonder what the developers were thinking. In fact, I can't finish this game... When a game begins to feel like work it's time to cut your losses. I play a *lot* of videogames and I suggest you take your money and your valuable time elsewhere. I would suggest purchasing either Splinter Cell or No One Lives Forever 2 as an alternative to this waste of packaging material.

I had a hard time playing Project Earth. The game control is no way near as good as Homeworld or Homeworld Cataclysm. One has to use the mouse & arrow keys & ctrl key to get anything done. In the end the controls are not intutive and take the fun out the game. He graphics are OK. If you have not played Homeworld or Homeworld Cataclysm I would recommend that you buy them instead. They have easy game control, good graphics & music and a great story line.

Casino Inc. Review

Casino Inc.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Casino Inc is a sim/tycoon/micromangement game where, as you guessed, you get to make and control casinos. There are other games that have been down this road before; specifically Casino Mogul comes to mind. Casino Inc is set up in a "the Sims" type environment, with lots of attractions, gambling tables, employees etc to set up. Dance stages, bowling alleys, restaurants, cooks, floormen, cheats, troublemakers, and dance floors just to name some. A few more personalized touches, such as wallpaper, carpeting, paintings etc. would have been nice as often times the casinos you own just seem to blend into each other.
There is also a map screen that allows you to move around the city, go inside other businesses etc. A similar map is used to see what advertisements are available and buildings for sale. Your staff screen is simple enough, but you seem to spend way too much time there as someone is always clamouring to get more. Of course this depends on factors such as atmosphere, if the police are called, fires, murders etc. If you try to fire someone instead of giving them a raise, be prepared for the rest of the staff to get a bit unhappy (depending on how many staff the employee interacted with). I found these additions realistic, but others might find them irritating. I also wish it would say which staff are in which casino on which floor. It's a bit confusing finding them sometimes. This depicts a problem that seems to plague other aspects of Casino Inc - the sometimes clumsy interface. The learning curve is a bit harder than most tycoons, but that's partially due to the fact that there's so much to do. I personally prefer games where I often have something to micromanage, while I've read reviews that criticize this extremely. They wanted to be able to sit back and watch the casino make money. Well if you manage it well enough, eventually you do have some breaks. I normally speeded up the game then to get something else to do ;)
There are 3 scenarios - very very long ones. While it is true there is no sandbox mode in the game, if you go to their website and DOWNLOAD THE PATCH it adds, amongst other things, a sandbox mode once you've completed all the scenarios.
The graphics are cheerful enough, although a little more differentiation might have been nice. At least the visitors come in a wide variety of shapes, types, sizes, colors, and sexes. Whenever a convention happens, you get to see some funny costumes as well ;) (Sci fi, fetish)
The sound ... well don't have much to say about it. The voices got irritating early on so I turned it way down. The music is ok enough, but not good enough that I didn't start winamp after awhile of playing.
Overall Casino Inc has been criticized for having a clumsy interface and for demanding much more micromanagement than the available menus and submenus can make manageable. I say it depends on what you like. I personally found this game very enjoyable, as I like games like Restaurant Empire, The Sims, Ghost Master, and Rock Manager. I praise micromanagement and beg for more. If you're the same, you will probably dig this game as well.
GRAPHICS: 8 - nothing fancy, but cute enough
SOUND: 5 - nothing special
GAMEPLAY: 7 - not for your casual tycoon player. Takes a bit of time to learn. But if you like a lot of micromanagement it can be quite fun. There should have been a bit more of finesse in the menu system though.
PLAY VALUE: 7 - the scenarios are very long, and if you install the patch you will get a sandbox mode at the end. But the little flaws might get repetitive and irritating after awhile.
8 - lot's of cute features, and I felt pretty good playing it
OVERALL: 7 - 3.5 star on Amazon scale, but Im gonna give this game a tilt and push it up to 4 stars, since I find it worthy of that.

this game is the best rugby game available for the PC in america. I have spent a lot of time trying to find a good rugby game and I have struck gold. The play is realistic, the passes are accurate, and the speed and running seem true to form, small guys are faster than big guys. Kicking is tricky, much like in the real game. This is a fun and easy to play rugby on a computer for any rugby player.

NFL Head Coach Review

NFL Head Coach
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love EA's Madden Football games. I've been playing Madden since the original Madden hit the shelves for the Sega Genesis. But I was real excited when this game was announced because it sounded like it would perhaps be like Madden except that you control the sidelines instead of being on the field.
Well, after getting this on the first day it was released, and spending a lot of hours playing it, I can say that I am already bored to tears with it and highly annoyed by it.
The main problem with this game is that they went WAY overboard on the "what it's like to be a coach" thing. It is literally an hour-by-hour head coach simulation during the entire offseason. There are just SO many tedious things to do. Everything from sitting down with the owner over and over and over, and hearing all his nonesense. Then you have to attend meeting after meeting with your position coaches, which is just plain not fun. Then running practices. Blech! There really isn't anything fun about running the same play over and over and over in hopes of seeing incremental ratings changes of your players.
The college draft could have been a lot of fun, but even that they ruined by insisting on running it nearly real-time. You make a pick and literally have to sit there and wait for half an hour until you get to pick again, with seemingly no way to fast-forward that. And again the "presentation" of the draft was very disappointing. For example they make it really awkward to try to do something as simple as looking up statistics on the players you have already drafted, or the ones you have scouted (much less the ones you haven't).
It took me over 10 hours of gameplay just to reach the first game! And then what a letdown! The gameday presentation is just a shadow of what it is in Madden, and the games themselves are rediculous shams. The computer AI is poor, the play by play is almost nonexistant. The statistics are presented in an almost unreadible way. And it's buggy as heck. For example it tells you that you lost yardage on most plays where you score a touchdown. Also it's usually showing the results of a couple plays back on the scoreboard, rather than keeping up with that game as it's happening.
Argh! This game had so much promise, but it was completely ruined by adding in too many tedious elements and obviously not game play testing this near enough.
