I'm just okay at troubleshooting pcs so I feel that this program was made for someone like me. I don't want to degenerate other programs cause I don't know them so well. But I found them to be very technical and I didn't understand all the terms. Roxio is easy to understand and I could do things very quickly. I will admit that my husband takes care of the technical parts like installation and the XP fixes. I can't say anything about those things but the program has worked without trouble for me.
I wanted to learn how to fix photos and make slide shows, especially since we have a big family reunion coming up. I'm not doing special effects but I am cropping and fixing a lot of the red eyes. I also have some 5x7 and 4x 6 photos. I wanted to put them all in the same size and there is a menu item that will change a lot of photos at once. I didn't have to go to each photo and make the size change. The slide shows are incredibly easy to make. Instead of one long show I've opted to make several, categorized by decade. That way I could add different music to each show. I also like the way the program pans and scans. You can really see the photo instead of it just whizzing by.
Of course I need copies to give to everyone. I used the disc copy to make several discs. Many of the older people don't use computers much but they all have dvd players. The program makes such dvds. My husband said that the slide show is really a video so I can send it to my ipod. I plugged in the ipod and chose the video file. It did move to the ipod and I didn't have to do much. And since we will be making videos of the reunion, I will start learning how to use the video editing programs.

(More customer reviews)Even though this version of Windows Vista Ultimate is clearly a costmetic edition, it sure offer's a nice visual touch. I was happy to grab this eddition because of the donation Microsoft gives, but also because of the nice beautiful RED it entraps you in. Microsoft Vista is actually a huge improvement over XP to me, and I have been mostly happy with the merge. I enjoy the ease of use, and all of my software and devices have ran very nicely on it. My PC is only an Acer with AMD 5200 Dual Core, and a 512MB basic Nvidia graphics card and 2GB of memory. If your pc has at least 2GB of memory, and at least 128MB of dedicated graphics, Vista will run great with the full visual experience, 1GB works good as well just without the fancy visual effects. I love the built in Fax software with Ultimate, and the networking tools, so if you must have the business side of Vista, this is your best bet!!! Works great, and very enjoyable after adding a few of your own 3rd party software favorites.

The Print Shop 2.0 Professional Review

(More customer reviews)I was using The Print Shop 22 De Luxe on a Vista computer. I installed Windows 7 and found 22 would not work. Broderbund said they were working on a totally new version (oddly called 2.0). When it became available, I purchased 2.0 DeLuxe through Amazon, and was very disappointed. It worked with Windows 7, but lacked many of the features that 22 DeLuxe had (eg headlines,fixing flaws in photos,and cropping photos in shapes other than rectangles). I returned it to Amazon and bought (at extra cost) Version 2.0 Professional, hoping it would have the missing features. If they are there, I can't find them. The menus appear to be the same as the DeLuxe version. The Help manual is very superficial and appears to be the same whatever version you buy. In desperation I emailed Broderbund for help but they didn't bother replying. To add to my woes the program frquently crashes and needs restarting. I returned this one to Amazon too.
Then I saw a small note on Broderbund's website, saying that Print Shop 23 (the last of the versions of the old program before they totally redid it) would work on Windows 7. I bought it (from Amazon) and it works, and is just marvellous!
Summary. Avoid all versions of The Print Shop 2.0. Buy The Print Shop 23 instead. This is still available from Broderbund or Amazon.

Print Workshop 2009 Review

My old Print master was able to do calendar for all years. And nicer, easier to use faster.

Broderbund Print Shop 21 Deluxe Review

(More customer reviews)I've been using Print Shop for many, many years, primarily to make greeting cards and note cards. I've upgraded as upgrades became available and today upgraded from version 20 to version 21 deluxe. I also use Norton A/V which has been around for many years and is in very widespread use.
It seems that the two are almost terminally incompatible. PS v. 21 has many projects that are only available online and must be downloaded. There are many of these in the Printed Greeting cards and constitute all of the projects in the Photo Picture Cards and the Creative Touch cards.
Although, at the price charged for this software, EVERYTHING SHOULD BE ON THE CD"S AND SHOULD NOT REQUIRE ADDITIONAL DOWNLOADING, when downloading is tried, you will get the message "The online server can not deliver the file".
When you search their nearly non-existent technical support section, for a solution, you are told "It has been found that certain software security systems do not allow communication between your computer and Broderbund's file servers. You will need to contact your security software's company for information on how to allow this communication or SIMPLY DISABLE THE SOFTWARE TO ALLOW IT." (Emphasis mine)
It thus seems that the makers of PS 21 (Broderbund? Encore? RiverDeep?) could not be bothered to work out these incompatibilities with one of the most popular and widely installed anti-virus software programs on the market and put their program on the market anyway. Their solution to the inevitable incompatibility which they knew full well existed: Simply disable your anti virus protection......and risk having your system destroyed.
Is this worth paying them another $42 for a questionable upgrade?
I plan to uninstall v.21 and return it tomorrow; stay with v. 20 and cross Broderbund off my list for all future purchases of this type of software.

The Print Shop 22 Deluxe Review

(More customer reviews)I was shopping for an alternative when it occurred to me to review...I've used Printshop since ver. 10, and I know it pretty well. I use it a lot both for work and personal and usually from "scratch". A few things have improved but not enough to keep me committed to it. The art gallery directory is ridiculous, you can't search for a subject, the silly names are like "he likes ice" for a picture of a panda and it is full of old cards and really silly items (pretentiously called "premium images", maybe young kids like them) and many duplicates of images, sadly I've never figured out how to access images from earlier versions, which were superior. Some nice tools of the past like "transparency" seen to have disappeared ;-). It has a tendency to do odd things like "forget" the earlier version of a project or change font sizes when you cut and paste, or refuse to copy...I've run it on a few different computers and it does this on all of them. Today it changed my #10 envelope size every time I closed the project so I had to keep redoing it and couldn't find my address book so I couldn't use mail merge. It gets confused about using legal size paper, changing the layout when you reopen the project to fit letter. I've never been able to work the text in "table", the columns are difficult to size and print set up has a wrong page that has never been corrected. Do NOT call fee based customer support, they charge whether they know how to resolve the issue or not, after telling the tech what I had already tried he had me re-try, charging me all the time, I paid half after some argument and in retrospect should not have paid at all. There is really no technical support. It is easier to use than full programs but has surprising limitations and quirks. I use it all the time and can do a lot with it, but it can be unnecessarily frustrating.

Print Workshop 2008 Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this program to make simple family newsletters, student handouts, and various other projects. I have found it fairly easy to use with lots of pictures, fun fonts and pre-made projects. My daughter, who is 8 has been able to make birthday cards for friends and family without much difficulty. There are no written instructions so you have to feel your way through most of it; this is a simple process although a bit time consuming at the start. The one feature I am very disappointed with is the picture/graphics search option. When looking for graphics you literally have to scroll through each section beginning to end to find a graphic; there is a search option but even very general searches (like "flower") usually produce no results. Basically the search option is useless which makes finding the graphics you want a tedious and sometimes long process.
For what I want to do this program works just fine and I have used it with worthwhile results.

The Print Shop 23 Deluxe Review

(More customer reviews)After hearing that Print Shop 22 was not compatible with Windows Vista, I waited and recently purchased Print Shop 23 Deluxe. Pay attention to the operating system requirements. You must have either Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista SP1. The installation discs are DVD-ROMs, NOT CDs, so you must have a DVD drive.
Unlike previous user reports of long delivery times, damaged discs and corrupt installs, my package arrived from Amazon in two days and included two shiny unblemished discs and a half inch thick user manual.
The setup was painless and took just under 25 minutes for a complete installation including registration and a short optional survey. A full install including artwork stored on the hard drive will take up close to 8GB.
The program launched flawlessly right after installation (no Restart required) and the features worked just fine. It will take several seconds for Print Shop to initialize (as did prior versions) but a little patience will be rewarded.
Print Shop has always been a great application and this new version follows that tradition!

PrintMaster 2011 Platinum SB Review

(More customer reviews)I pre-ordered this through Broderbund. Somewhat satisfied and dissatisfied with it's predecessor I decided I would take a chance. My evaluation isn't about the software because I won't put the disk in my Mac. Why? I was sent a cheaply created (burned) copy of the program with a homemade adhesive label. I'd expect this from a new software company but Broderbund??? Tacky and potentially damaging to your machine. It's stupid to put disks with adhesive labels in your computers and cd players.
After arguing for 40 minutes and threatening a fraud alert with the BBB they finally agreed to credit me for the disk, shipping and let me keep the disk because they wouldn't pay for return shipping. Will it be the same way with Amazon? I'm not sure. I do know that the supervisor told me there are no boxes for the product even though there is one pictured here AND on Broderbund's site. I'd investigate first unless you're OK with adhesive labels.
***UPDATE**** I had to look at this product. If you look at the software product just before they released this one (PrintMaster Platinum 2.0) you'll see that people didn't have the greatest opinion of it. I gave it a 3. I think they whipped this one out to 'fix' the fatal issues of 2.0. Well, "Back to the drawing board Broderbund!"
***The labels got slightly better. SLIGHTLY. You still have to literally copy and paste your address for every single cell. No Find/Replace. Very time consuming.
***The calendar is basically a graphic. Yes, you choose the year or the month depending on whether you are doing an annual or monthly. However you have no way to type items into a cell/day. With Print Shop you can. An improvement but like the labels, a very SLIGHT improvement.
****EVERYTHING IS ONLINE. People complained about everything being installed and killing your hard drive but now you have to be able to access the Internet if you want to create anything. Yes, this is normal for print software but at least you get some on the disk or installed. But with this one it looks like you need the Internet for everything. Let's put it this way. Everything I tried to find kept needing the Internet. Maybe the clipart is on the disk but the projects don't appear to be. Very sad.

****Tackiness: I'm a teacher and I'm picking about spelling. I'm adding a graphic that shows how poorly they were at Broderbund when it came to looking at things before releasing this 'burned' disk. They spelled 'coming' as 'comming.'
****Going back to labels I'm also including a graphic of a sheet of labels aimed at Halloween. First the design has graphics all over the sheet. Next they have the instructions mixed within the labels themselves. Huh? It's a bunch of gobbledygook.
If you're interested in this product look at 2.0 but I'm still very glad I got my money back. Big, big, big disappointment. It keeps it's 1 because they did a shoddy job 'fixing' up a piece of software that they screwed up in the first place. So not worth $40.00! Back to Print Shop for me and praying I can find a good one for my Mac.*****UPDATE***** I wanted to create business cards/behavior punchcards (yeah, I didn't fully take it off) and the program printed some crazy enlarged business card that had the right side of it printed on the left side and vice-verce. I have NEVER seen a printing program this messed up!!!

Franklin Planner 1.4 for MS Outlook Review

(More customer reviews)The software installed easily. I soon discovered that many advertised features did not work with Outlook 2000. Franklin has since upgraded the software with a patch available on the internet. I recently upgraded the software which has now turned hot sync into a nightmare. Addresses are deleted from my contact list. Bogus entries titled 'unnamed' are entered into my palm. Some appointments are deleted, some are duplicated.
I am on the verge of uninstalling the software and using something else. Don't waste your money and time. Buy something else.

Calendar Creator Version 12 Deluxe Review

(More customer reviews)Calendar Creator has the potential to be the best calendar/scheduling program on the market - BUT Version 9 is probably the best so far. Unfortunately, instead of fixing previous problems and enhancing the product, the creators put out upgrades which just add more graphics and "fluff" WITHOUT concentrating on making the basic program better. And, in some cases, they even REMOVE PREVIOUS functions that were terrific!
They have lost many buyers like me who used to upgrade almost every year. This program really needs to have creators who are serious about realizing the full potential of this program - which would increase their sales (and upgrade buyers) by 100-fold.
